Summary: A new member is added to the Crew, as a result of Dylan's impulsive recklessness, with various results.
It was midafternoon on the command of the Andromeda, where Beka and Rommie were talking, as, for once there was nothing to do, but keep an eye on things.
"Wonder what's keeping Dylan," Rommie mused aloud to Beka "He said that he would only be a few days late to take care of some important business."
"He'd better come soon," Beka replied, starting to show some impatience "We have to go soon to that diplomatic conference.
Suddenly, Rommie gave a look of surprise.
"What is it?" Beka asked.
"It's Dylan," Rommie answered, wrinkling her forehead in puzzlement. " The Maru is asking permission to land."
"Why the surprise? We were expecting him."
"But not his guest."
"Everyone, meet me hanger bay 15." It was Dylan's voice on the com. "I want you all to meet someone."
"Aye," Rommie said.
"Uh..okay," Beka replied.
Finally, they all arrived at the hanger bay to meet Dylan and his guest. She had loose, red hair, and was wearing loose purple pants, with blue trim, and a blue shirt with purple trim. She had no makeup on, but she was pretty with a finly shaped nose, and green eyes.
"Everyone," Dylan started to say, "This is my fiancee, Ella."
Trance had to close Harper's chin, after Dylan made his announcement.
"Dylan..." Rommie started to say, feeling that a bomb had been dropped on her. "This is....rather sudden. You just met Ella two months ago."
"I know," Dylan replied as he looked at Ella with a deep smile and twinkle in his eye.
"So.. she's going to live here?" Trance asked.
"Well, Ella is a pyschologist, and so she can act as the morale officer, and ship's psychologist."
"May I congratuate you sir?" Tyr said partly in sarcasm.
"I'm glad that you could find happiness, Dylan," Beka said, meaning every word of it.
"Thanks you two," Dylan answered, with a smile. "Don't you have anything to say, Rommie?"
"May you both find happiness" was all she could say.
"Lots of luck to the two of ya!" Harper chimed in. "When's the big day?"
"In about two weeks." Ella answered.
Later on, Beka and Rommie was on the Maru, talking.
"Help me refresh my memory, Rommie, she's that woman from an alternate universe, where there is something called the United Federation of Planets, which is kinda like the Commonwealth."
"Yes. it was formed two or three hundred years before her time."
"And she was a civilian pyschologist, who got the ability to speak Common, and know basic psychology about aliens that don't exist in her universe, but in ours from some powerful alien?"
"That's what Dylan told me." Rommie was deliberatly sounding non-commental.
"Hmmmmm..." Beka scrunged up her nose. "So, how do you feel about this?"
"Well...if she can make Dylan happy, I support him all the way."
Later that night, after Ella was wide awake, as Dylan, with his hand on her waist, lay sleeping beside her. While, she was happy with her decision to stay with Dylan, she had a lot of thinking to do.
"Dylan is a pretty great guy, despite his bouts of recklessness," she thought to herself.
She felt nervous about the idea of whether or not she was up to restoring civilization, as it entailed lots of responsibility and all she ever wanted in life was to help people by being a psychologist.
"At least my workload won't be hard!" she told herself, smiling in the dark that was partly shimmered by a red glowing oblate, and curvy device that Dylan said was a birthday gift from a classmate at the Advanced studies insititute.
"Damn it!" she cursed in her thoughts "Why can't I sleep?" Truth be told she was rather nervous about the commitment that she just made.
The next day, she felt a slight shaking, and smelled some coffee.
"Good morning!" it was Dylan with a cup of coffee in his hand. "Here, it's strong, the way ya like it"
"MMM? Thanks." She was half asleep. Soon, however, she felt awake enough to go take a quick shower.
Ella was immersed in her thoughts when Dylan's voice interrupted them.
"Ella?"
"Yeah?" she had been startled.
"I have to go take a message, but I'll be back as soon as I can."
"Okay. I need to go get better acquainted to the others"
As Dylan was leaving, she turned on her musical device, and starting to blare one of her favorite old Earth songs.
"Fly me to the moon and let me play among the stars, let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars....."
As far as Dylan was concerned the song blaring from his shower sounded like "dalkjds lkjsdf ls kldjsfl slkjd lsdis..", and very odd to him, but he put up with it to please Ella.
Ella was tapping on the shower walls to the beat of the song, and singing along. As soon as she was done showering, she got dressed.
"Andromeda, where are Beka, Trance and Rommie?"
"Beka and Trance are on the Maru talking, and my avatar is on the Command deck." the hologram replied as she suddenly appeared.
"Why do you call her your avatar if she is her own person?"
Holo-Andromeda just rolled her eyes as she disappeared.
So, she went to get better acquainted with Beka and Trance.
