Tyr thumbed through the book.  It looked like an interesting piece, written by Theodric Norman.  He had been a Nietzschean apologist of sorts, espousing the virtues of the Nietzschean lifestyle and culture, and he had been quite good.  Even more interesting however was that his writings came out shortly before the Nietzschean uprising.  In fact, many consider him to have been one of the major factors in the fall of the Commonwealth.

Still, Tyr was currently wondering who had given it to him.  Whoever it was must have done some research.  A quick glance through Tyr's personal library would reveal that he did have several books by Theodric, but not this one.

'It was... thoughtful,' Tyr mused as he leaned against the wall of his quarters, 'Probably not from the little professor.  Somehow, I doubt Trance, Hunt, or Valentine would give me a book.  That leaves the Magog and the ship.  Given the nature of the work, I think the issue is settled.  I just hope Hunt doesn't expect me to give his ship a thank you note.'

Tyr deactivated privacy mode, "Ship, did you give me this book?"

Andromeda's holographic avatar appeared nearby, "No, I didn't."

"Are you lying to me because of Hunt's inane 'secret santa' idea?"

"No.  If you must know, I got Harper's name."

"Do you know who got mine?"

"Yes, but I'm not going to tell you.  That's up to him," Rommie nearly winced at the slip-up, "or her."

Tyr smirked, then waved her off dismissively "That'll be all."

Rommie looked at him coldly, "Goodnight Tyr."

"Magog," Tyr sat next to Rev in front of the obs. deck window, "What name did you get in Hunt's rediculous gift exchange?"

"Why do you want to know?" Rev countered.

"I think you picked my name," Tyr stated, "Considering the nature of the gift, you seem like the most natural candidate."

"That doesn't answer my question," Rev continued to look through the window.

Tyr looked amused, "Curiosity."

Rev paused, "Yes, I gave you the book."

"Why that book?  You're a Wayist, and the message goes against your beliefs.  Shouldn't you be trying to convert me?"

Rev paused, "The Divine embraces everyone in his own way.  I can't show you the Way by debating philosophy or reading you a sermon.  I can only show you the way, by showing you love."

Tyr looked through the window, "And this is your way of showing love?  A Christmas card would have had the same effect."

"I did research, so you'd know that I cared enough to give you my time.  I selected an author that I knew you would like, to show that I want to understand you.  And I selected a Nietzschean author, to show you that I'm willing to accept you and your way of life even if I disagree with it.  Cards are wonderful things, but words could never convey that message."

"You are an interesting creature, Behemial Far Traveler."

"We are very different, in your pasts, in our motives, and in our actions.  Perhaps we both have things to learn from each other, Tyr Anasazi."
