Author's Note: This is my first Andromeda Fic, though not my first fic ever. I don't know ep titles but this is the one where they go back in Time. This title stinks, I know but it was all I could think of. Please review, I need the encouragement to write the other Andromeda fic I have in progress. Thanks!! - SEW/Lady S
"We win..."
Shutting off the recorder, Harper sat back and thought about had had just happened. Something he had created had just destroyed one thousand ships. 'Fully crewed ships,' he thought with a grimace, a sick feeling settling over his stomach. 'One thousand Nietzchean ships.'
"Nietzcheans!" Harper spat, coming to his feet.
Leaving the crawlspace he stood on the walkway over looking the ships innards, his mind calling years worth of nightmares to the fore, unbidden and terrifying.
'They slaughtered us but the hundreds! Pillaging whatever they wanted, both human and machine. Lining us up in a row to be obliterated with a flick of their trigger switch!' he thought. 'So I killed them back! One hundred thousand Nietzcheans! One hundred thousand people... just... like... Tyr.'
As the implications of what he had helped to do hit he felt the bile rising in his throat. He had done to their kind the very same that they had to his. He had lined them up to be slaughtered. Doubling over Harper spewed out what little he had in his stomach. On his hands and knees his one thought raged through his mind as the tears stormed down his cheeks.
'I'm no better than they were...' he thought to himself. 'I'm no better...'
Once more he heaved, unable to handle the thought that would not leave his mind. After some time he got up and staggered through the halls, looking for the one person who could help him make sense of it all.
Leaning against the doorway he watched her smile fade away almost instantly. She reached out to him, her face filled with the concern and love he knew filled her heart, and he crumbled into her arms. Trance held him, letting him take the comfort she was offering. Slowly, when his tears dried, he sat back against a tree with his burning eyes closed.
"I killed them Trance. I killed them the same way they killed us."
Trance shook her head. "No Harper. It was different. They killed for the fun and the sport. You were saving earth. Preventing them from doing more damage than they already had." Harper opened his eyes and stared at her. Trance shrugged, tilting her head but still meeting his eyes. "It was different."
Reaching out she took his hand in hers and smiled.
Though unable to smile just yet, he knew he would be okay. Because he knew Trance was right. It had been different.
He was better than them. He had saved his people from the Nietzcheans. Granted they had to deal with the Magog. But at
least the Magog weren't human. Humans were the nastiest, and he was living proof.
