Scorn. You could build a device that would extend and then vibrate the rods enough to destroy the ship.
"It wouldn't be that difficult. Or...I could stay behind and do it."
Amusement. No need to sacrifice you yet. Affection?
"I'm glad," Kelly replied, reaching out to pet "her" kitten.
The next day, she requested a day off and access to a Machine Shop to build an experimental device.
"It's not at all dangerous."
Dylan, distracted by the cute kitten climbing his leg, agreed.
