Intrigues: Chapter 4
"Why don’t you offer me a drink?" Guessing didn’t sound appealing to her right now, as nothing she could make up would be as complicated as the truth, knowing Vrednak as she did.
"Certainly" he replied as he got up and went to the dining table on their right. The bottle’s sphere shape delicatly reflected the white light above by curving it. After getting couple of glasses from the bar area, he poured the reddish-purple drink for Ivette, then himself, then took them to the small table in front of the couch, where Ivette sat, giving one to her.
"Thanks" she accepted the glass from him and took a sip.
"Is it difficult getting back to military work?" Vrednak needed to change the subject, besides, he always liked to know about Ivette’s life.
"Well" Ivette took another sip. "On the one hand, I have less patients, but one the other, I have to take on other jobs. For example, I take shifts in command, and participate more in battles."
"I see." Vrednak replied.
"Oh no!" Ivette exclaimed,
"What is it?"
"My shift in on the bridge is to start in a few minutes! Sorry, I gotta go"
"I’ll see you then."
Soon, almost out of breath and cursing the lack of turbolifts, Ivette arrived in command with Rommie there, on one of the main panel groups on the left side, Ivette took the one in the on the right, and Harper took the middle one.
"Have you gotten any information from your friend?" Rommie casually asked, as she adjusted things in the panels, despite her curiosity.
"Not really, one has to be subtle when dealing with Romulans."
"I see" the avatar replied, then she scrunged her eyesbrows "Someone is hailing us"
"Put them on" Harper replied.
On the viewscreen appeared a man with light eyes hair, and a muscular upper body.
"Greetings! I’m looking for a fella named Vrednak, He has green skin and pointy ears."
"That bastard!" Ivette exclaimed. "He’s always up to no good!" Ivette exclaim partly to act and partly to express her annoyance at Vrednak.
"Do you know where he is" The man seemed pleased at Ivette’s reaction.
"If he were here, I’d give you his corpse in a bag!"
"Any idea of where he could be?"
"He’s probably up to his old tricks someone or other" Ivette replied again. "What did he do this time.
" He stands accused of industrial espionage.Thank you for your help" With that the bounty hunter’s image disapeared.
"He’s leaving the system" Holoandromeda said as she appeared.
"Cool! You saved Vrednak from that guy without the Andromeda having to fire one shot!" Harper complemented her. "We gotta find out what he’s up to."
"I know" Ivette risked a bit to help him, and damned if she wasn’t going to find out what’s he been up to!"
"Well, I’m going to see what’s going on"
Meanwhile, on the ship, the bounty hunter talked to a Robed stranger in the ship’s messhall.
"What happened?" the Robed one asked.
"One of the crew members said that she didn’t see him, and I believe her because she expressed her hate of the guy."
"I see"
"Anything else you’d like me to do?"
"No, no, here’s your money." He took out several hundred thrones and gave it to him.
