Intrigues: Chapter 2
Vrednak eyed Trance tentavely.
"Don’t worry, she’s trustworthy." Ivette said,as if answering his thoughts.
"I take it you are wondering why I asked you to come"
"No, actually I don’t give a damn" Ivette answered drily, with a smile.
Meanwhile, thanks to Trance’s mysterious abilities, meanwhile, Dylan did not find out about their departure until two hours later.
"Any idea where they went?" Dylan asked Holo-Andromeda.
"Ivette got a message, from someone, but the coordinates are in an unfamiliar code."
"Play back the message."
"I would, but it’s in an old Earth language called English, but I already translated it. The person is asking Ivette for help."
"Who?"
"Probably someone from her universe, he seems to be from an unfamiliar species."
Back at the Warehouse Vrednak told Ivette and Trance what brought him here.
"I was attempting to research on this artifact, and through contacts started to find out about…lets say various things…., when I was accused of having an affair with the wife of a Senator, who was also the daughter of a Talshiar agent"
"Tal Shiar?" Trance looked puzzled.
"It’s the Romulan version of Argosy Special ops" Ivette replied.
"Forced to escape, I took refuge in Yudsdas…….."
His narration stopped. "There are people coming towards us" Vrednak’s Romulan hearing never failed him.
All three picked up their weapons, and took cover. Ivette and Trance had their force lances, while Vrednak had his Romulan intercepter. Tensly, they waited, as the footsteps got louder and louder. They were in a room with only two exits both of which lead to the same paths. As soon as the visitors, who were Nietchean males came in, they put up their weapons. One was blonde, while the other had red hair.
"Who goes there???? I can hear your breathing, and smell you!"
Before anyone could act, Vrednak shot both of them with his Romulan intercepter on stun, which meant that in one shot each, they were unconscious.
Trance started to say something when, Ivette interrupted her.
“Don’t worry, they’re just knocked out, but we’d better hurry. Their natural nanobots should be kicking in soon.” Ivette wished that she had an intercepter right then and there.
With that, they all ran, took the elevator, left the building, and rested in an alley.
“We’d better hustle to the Maru” Ivette ordered “Let’s go!”
Once on the Maru, Vrednak continued his story.
“As soon as I could, I visited a cousin of mine, an engineering genius who left Romulus, as he found it too stifling for his intellect. He claimed that he had a temporal portal I could use. When I heard this, I sarcastically told him that I’d prefer to use a teleporter to go back in time. Using some rodent, he proved to me that it worked. I decided to go back in time and find out something scandalous about the aforementioned senator, and Talshiar agent, then use it to my advantage.”
“You get what you want without screwing up time, good idea” Ivette replied.
“But what happened?” Trance knew something went wrong.
“I ended up here, with the device broken. Fortunatly, I was able to sell some worthless items for many more times than there value. With the money, I sent a message to you”
“Maybe Harper could fix it” Trance suggested. “He’s the ship’s engineer”
“Perhaps” Vrednak answered, turning to Ivette who sat at his right in the table at the Maru kitchen. “How did you end up here?”
“Long story short, I was captured by some mysterious alien, who made me choose between exile or becoming his mate. He made my exile easier by giving me the ability to speak Common, the language most spoken in this universe, and giving me knowledge on a few things. I joined the Andromeda’s crew six months after my exile started.”
.Later that day, Dylan and Tyr played Go!, Tyr sat on the couch in Dylan’s quarters, while Dylan sat in a chair.
“You’re losing the game” Tyr remarked “It’s the message isn’t it?”
“What about it, Tyr?” Dylan asked in his annoyed voice.
“You are jealous”
“No I’m not”
“It’s only natural. You don’t want competitors for you mate’s affection.”
Holo-Andromeda suddenly appeared with an announcement. “The Maru has docked on Bay 14, Ivette’s Friend is with them.”
