-Excerpt from Addendum to the Book of Raziel

IN what many call the long ago, God created the universe and everything. He (rather It) then made sentient beings to watch over his works, and these were named “angels”.

The universe is so large that many would prefer not to think about it, but we had to use a metaphor, let us look at the onion.

It has layers.

Just like the universe.

In the beginning, everyone could travel amongst these layers via the use of Agarte (that’s pronounced ah-GAR-te), a small flat disk that would move oneself to the realm of their choice. To maintain order, the angels were to monitor the use of the Agarte.

But man is greedy, as well as everything else out there, and it soon came to pass that things from one realm would be taken into another, causing disastrous effects on the surrounding areas. As each of these realms co-existed, there was a balance and with these other objects, the balance was corrupted.

Wars broke out, plague spread and pandemonium reigned until God demanded that enough was enough. As punishment for negligence the angels were frozen in the form of statues and the Agarte was lost.

Time passed and people forgot.

Henceforth many beliefs were formed around these statues of the angels (now called deities) one of the most prominent was dubbed the Wyrd.

On the small realm of Arcane, there was four Wyrd clans, Fire, Sound, Earth and Mind. They upheld the commune and hope of the people for a great number of years.

Until the they came.

None are sure where or why they appeared only that they were black masses, balls of destruction. The people ran to the Wyrd temples and the priests prayed to the statues in vain.

No answer came, and the peaceful times crumbled like dust in the wind.

With a great cry the people rose against the Wyrd priests, slaughtering them in the midst of their rage and sorrow. Those who survived were cruelly marked by Hin-tan (hEEn-tahn) a large unformed tattoo on their backs and outcast.

So came the time of Ragnarok, of Armageddon.
