just reading this page could cause your vt clutch to fry ,its electrics to sizzle shocks and brakes to sieze and tappets to turn into mushrooms.the vt500 was the only honda i regretted buying. it was a total piece of dirt. mine was an 8 year old example and had 35000 on the clock.within a month the regulator had packed in. as had the back shocks, then the fully enclosed front brakes started acting up.after sorting that lot out the clutch fried (do not do burnouts on a vt500).it handled shit with the back end rising and falling as the power was fed on and off (typical of shaft drives).the brakes were always crap and using the gearbox to slow you down was asking for a back wheel lock up.
