my ol ts/rsx mutant had devoloped a nasty habit of blowing its rings out the exaust and i was fed up replacing them. it was sold to a friend that knew of its problems for 250 sheckles and i was in the market for some cheap wheels again.
enter 1 aircooled kl250 4 stroke single. it was english reg (im in ireland) and was harder on oil than it was on petrol so the asking price of 450 quickly slid to 200 and the bike was mine.i was commuting about 100 mls a day and thought it would be an economical ride.it had great torque and sounded well . i geared it up quiet a bit so i could just sit at 65 mph and listen to the engine goin bang bang bang.
it suffered from the old singles disiese that afflicted many eighties jap singles, the cam ran directly in the head which meant if it ran low on oil once or twice the whole top end was knackered .
eventualy it got so bad that it was using a pint of oil for every tank of petrol. it had to go . a straight swap was arranged for two yamaha rd200 s , one in boxes , one running but rough.
more info and pics soon
