LA County Sheriff’s Radio Plan

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department radios are broken down into different modes to make it easier to switch from channel to channel if necessary. There are 16 modes, each with 16 channels. 
The first 7 modes are programmed with LA County Sheriff frequencies, with the first 4 being local dispatch and tactical frequencies. The next three are Aero, Custody, Mutual Aid, Special Enforcement Division, etc.
The modes 8-15 are countywide access channels. These channels are programmed with other agencies in LA County for instance the LAPD and other Local Police Departments in LA County. The LA County Fire Department Dispatch and Response frequencies are also programmed in these modes.
Mode 16 is encrypted traffic used by the detectives and investigators.
