YOU Make the Satire!

ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION:

You will create a phony advertisement that is an obvious example of satire and present it to the class in commercial form.

ASSIGNMENT SPECIFICS:

Satire can, at times, border on inappropriateness.  Care MUST be taken to be sure your advertisement is school appropriate.  If it is questionable, you might want to re-think your selection.  Advertisements that are not school appropriate will earn automatic zeros for this assignment … don’t risk it!  During your presentation, you MUST bring a visual advertisement.  For this requirement, you may choose to either create a one-slide PowerPoint that contains your ad OR you may go “old school” and bring in your advertisement on poster board (28x24 or bigger).  Regardless of your choice, take measures to ensure your advertisement and especially any text is large enough to be seen from the back of the classroom.

You will be expected to present your advertisement in the form of a commercial and be prepared to explain, to the class, why it is an example of satire.  During the explanation it is expected that students use terminology introduced through lecture to identify the specific aspects of satire.
