Now then, fellow Xenites,What would you like to know about Xena: Warrior Princess?
To be nice, I won't tell you to gather around, but here's the story of a beautiful warrior princess.

In the time of Ancient Gods, Warlords, and Kings...

A land in turmoil cried out for a hero...

She, was Xena, a mighty princess, forged in the heat of battle...

The Power, the Passion, the Danger...

Her courage, will change the world.

The Warrior Princess Xena was introduced as a bloodthirsty warlord who wanted the hero Hercules dead on an episode entitled, oddly enough, "The Warrior Princess" in the first season of H:TLJ (Hercules: the Legendary Journies.)
The episode opens with a beautiful woman fetching water from a well being attacked by a bunch of thugs. With the odds, it looks pretty hopeless for the woman, but it is soon apparent that she is not your average damsel in distress. The woman, Xena, Warrior Princess fights off the soldiers easily, and then chews them out properly for being defeated, since she was going to send them against Hercules. Setting her plan in motion, Xena seduces Iolaus, Hercules's best friend, and sets the two against each other. In the end though, Iolaus finds that friendship is worth more than any woman, and Xena's plan backfires. After a remarkable show-down, the Warrior Princess rides off with an omnimous "You haven't heard the last of me, Hercules!"

The Warrior Princess returns in "The Gauntlet." After she leaves to scout the area around a village, her lieutenant Darphus orders her men to attack the village while she's away. Xena makes a point of sparing women and children when she ransacks a village, but Darphus has no such limitations. Xena returns to the devastated village and confronts Darphus, when she hears a baby's cry. She saves the baby from her men, but her men conclude that she has become soft, and they mutinee. They force her to walk a gauntlet, while the men beat and club her on both sides. She barely makes it, collapsing over the line at the end. Darphus thought that the Warrior Princess was done for, but then she rose up, deathly pale. She had survived the gauntlet out of sheer will. A beaten and bloody Xena then went to Hercules and challenged him to a duel, thinking that she could win back her army with Hercules' head. Hercules defeats her but doesn't kills her, and he invites her to join him and his two friends, Iloran and Spiros, in their fight against Darphus. She refuses pridefully and storms off into the woods.
Hercules rushes to Parthis, hoping to head off the oncoming massacre. Arriving well ahead of Darphus' warriors, Hercules and the villagers prepare a series of ingenious traps and surprises for the enemy. As the first wave of soldiers appears on the horizon, Hercules sets his elaborate plan in motion. Just when Hercules appears to be overwhelmed, Xena comes to his aid. The troops panic at the sight of their former commander's charge, and with Hercules and Xena fighting side-by-side, Darphus is killed and his murderous men driven off.
After the battle, Spiros learns that the baby Xena rescued is his son, whom he had thought dead. Meanwhile, a strange hooded figure who calls himself the Emissary of Ares glides over to Darphus's lifeless form and "resurrects" him. He says that Ares wants Darphus to kill Hercules, and he brings forth the monster Graegus -- Ares' dog of war -- to help Darphus execute the plan.

The last episode in the triology is "Unchained Heart". Xena and Hercules go off in search of the now immortal Darphus to destroy him. Darphus is feeding the bodies of his defeated victims to Graegus. With every meal, the evil beast grows larger and even more unstoppable. Darphus plans on using the beast to help Ares conquer and rule the world. Hearing of the trouble in Elysia, Iolaus sets out to find Hercules to offer his help. When he learns that Xena has joined forces with Hercules, he is appalled and distrustful, but when she saves his life in a battle, he finally concedes that the warrior princess has truly changed. The next day, Iolaus volunteers to go scouting for what could be trouble, Hercules and Xena can't hide their feelings for one another anymore, and give in to their passion. Meanwhile, Darphus has kidnapped Salmoneus, who has been traveling with Hercules and Xena, in an attempt to trap the two warriors. Hercules outwits Darphus and in the final battle, he directs Xena and Iolaus to push him in the path of the War Dog, Graegus, killing them both and saving Salmoneus from being eaten. Despite their love for each other, Xena leaves Hercules so she can make amends for her past evils. As she leaves, she thanks him for unchaining her heart. The two part company with a sad kiss and a renewed purpose.

Xena was born in Amphipolis with her two brothers, Lyceus and Toris. Their mother Cyrene owns a tavern, and their father had been killed many years ago. When the evil warlord Cortese attacked their village, Xena convinced them to fight for their lives and their freedom. There is a bloody battle, in which Xena repeatedly proves her skill in fighting and as commander. They villagers ultimately drove off the raiders, but at great cost. Many lives were lost, incuding that of Xena's younger brother and best friend, Lyceus. The bereaved villagers then turned their hate unjustly to Xena for causing this bloodshed. Unable to stand the recriminations, Xena left the village in search of another life. She formed an army and took to the sea, ostensibly for the purpose of protecting her homeland, but she was in fact yet another feared pirate. During one of her raids, she captured a fearless Roman convinced of his destiny to rule the world. His name was Julius Ceasar, and he won her over with his talk of destiny and greatness. She released him, although not without adequate ransom, and his release proved to be a mistake. He betrayed her, crucified her, broke her legs, and caused the death of the girl who saved Xena from the cross and taught her the famous "pinch." She lost herself to vengeance, blood, and violence, bringing fear and death across the land as the most feared Warrior Princess.
The rest, is history...
