OPERATION: RAINBOWS (Running Amok In Nature's Bounty Observing Wild Safari)

mini-synopsis: Numbuh Three is recruited to find real rainbow monkeys

summary:

Numbuh Three is at the unveiling of a new rainbow monkey toy, and reveals the fact that she can smell out rainbow monkeys when she finds where they are secreted away before the official debut.  Mr. Mogul, president of the Rainbow Monkey corporation, observes this and hatches a plan.

Kuki is kidnapped by a Rainbow Monkey toy, which attaches itself to her head, then flies off, using the rainbow on its head as a propeller.  Numbuh Three seems not at all afraid.  She is brought to a giant, rather tacky-looking Rainbow Monkey airship, where she meets Mr. Mogul, who tells her, "i need your nose."  he's searching for real Rainbow Monkeys, claiming he wants to give them a residual check.  Numbuh Three, naive as she is, agrees to help them.

they arrive at Rainbow Monkey Island, a tropical paradise with colorful jungles and, of course, rainbows.  Numbuh Three is quick to sniff out the Rainbow Monkeys, and while Mr. Mogul and his flunkey stand back, she is soon surrounded by them.  "real" Rainbow Monkeys apparently have the ability to shift colors, as well as turn invisible.  and they're kind of hideous-looking--not at all as cuddly as their toy counterparts.  but for Kuki, it's love at first sight, and she hugs them, only to be caught in a giant net along with them.  Mr. Mogul laughs and says that it was his plan all along to capture them and then...he never really says aloud what he plans to do with them.  he only whispers his scheme into another's ear and laughs maniacally.  we're to presume it's something evil:  barbecue them?  make coats out of them?  conk them on the noggin and shoot them into space, where they'll be forced to watch cheesy movies?  we can only guess.

locked up in a cage, Kuki is miserable, until she finally decides to get proactive and break her way out.  she has the Rainbow Monkey flying toy with her, and uses the propeller on its head to cut through the bars of the cage, then frees the other Rainbow Monkeys.  the Rainbow Monkeys run amok, defeating Mr. Mogul and co., and Numbuh Three takes over the aircraft (presumably after returning the Rainbow Monkeys to their home).  she then goes back to the Treehouse, where she proudly shows her teammates her newest Rainbow Monkey acquisition: a big-ass rainbow monkey airship.
