OPERATION: OFFICE (On Fourteenth Floor Is Corporate Evil)

mini-synopsis: Numbuh Four visits his dad's office. boredom turns out to be the least of his problems.

summary:

Numbuh Four is taken to his dad's workplace, much to Numbuh Four's chagrin, as it is "bring your daughter to work day." his dad reasons it's ok to bring Wally there as he doesn't have a daughter, therefore unwittingly submitting his son to humiliation. but soon Numbuh Four uncovers a plot by his dad's boss (the aptly named Mr. Boss) to blast all the girls off to Pluto, under the assumption that when his workers don't have kids at home to worry about, they'll spend that much more time at work. Numbuh Four isn't really bothered by this plan, ("serves those dumb girls right!") until he's dragged to the deep space rocket where Mr. Boss is throwing a "rainbow monkey" party to distract the girls. the knowledge that he might be stuck with a crowd of giggly girls on Pluto for the rest of his life is bad enough, but the rainbow monkey party turns out to be an unholy ordeal of it's own. eventually Numbuh Four finds a vent to lead him to safety, but just before he makes his escape, Numbuh Three turns up (her mom works in accounting). he tries to convince her to escape with him, but she insists on saving the other girls as well. he manages to trick the girls into jumping down the vent, (telling them there's a rainbow monkey video game at the bottom) and shoves Numbuh Three in just before the rocket blasts off. unfortunately for Numbuh Four, he gets left behind and bashed around in the rainbow monkey room as the girls, who ended up in the rocket control room, mess around with the trajectory of the rocket. they end up crashing him into the parking lot, where he flattens Mr. Boss who is trying to make good his escape after he realizes his plan has failed.

quotable quotes: you knew i was going to put down the rainbow monkey song--why deny the inevitable?
"rainbow monkeys, rainbow monkeys, oh so very round and super-chunky! bringing love wherever they go! everyone is made of a big rainbow! oh red and orange, and pink and blue, rainbow monkeys, rainbow monkeys, we love you!"
you don't know real pain until that song gets stuck in your head for days....

bizarro's blathering: OFFICE is the first episode to not feature all five of the KND--while MINIGOLF focused on Numbuh Two, and PIRATE on Numbuh Five, we did get to see the rest of the KND in each of those episodes. i personally prefer the episodes where all 5 of the KND play a role (like in I-SCREAM and LICE) but these episodes do allow for more character development. this, for example, is the first episode with real evidence of 3/4, and fans of that shipping often point to this as their favorite episode.
