OPERATION: LIZZIE(Love Is Zesty Zany Insanity Eh?) mini-synopsis: Nigel has a girlfriend, and she wants him all to herself. summary: Numbuh One (quite suspiciously) gives the rest of the KND the day off, claiming that he will handle a mission solo. the rest of the team decides to use the unexpected holiday to go to the carnival, where they enjoy themselves until they see Numbuh One there with a girl! the other KND immediately guess what's going on and go into taunt mode, especially Numbuhs Two and Four. Numbuh One introduces the girl (after some prodding from her) as Lizzie, and he insists they're not going "out" out, which infuriates her, and she shoves him into a nearby muddy puddle and storms off. the next day, Numbuhs One,Two and Four leave the Treehouse to buy comics when they are intercepted by Lizzie, who apologizes to "Nigie" (as she has nicknamed him) and offers him a reconciliation present. it's a strange-looking helmet with lightbulbs. Lizzie insists he put it on, and when he does, she activates a remote control which causes Numbuh One (who is in obvious physical pain) to tell the others to go to the comics store without him, as he will spend the day with Lizzie. Numbuhs Two and Four are confused, but leave him. later, when they report this strange behavior to Numbuhs Three and Five, they immediately realize Numbuh One is victim to a "boyfriend helmet" or more specifically, the "Yes, Dear 5000," a mind control device which girls can use on their boyfriends. of course, as is the general rule with mind control devices, the effects become permanent after a while, so the KND must dash off to save their leader. they find him in a fancy restaurant, where Lizzie is talking of such lovely things as getting married, redecorating the Treehouse, and Numbuh One never seeing his "stupid friends" again. Lizzie forces Nigel to battle his teammates, and after trashing the restaurant, he defeats all of them. all seems lost for poor Numbuh One when the bill for dinner arrives, causing Numbuh One to freak out, and the helmet explodes. He becomes briefly angry with Lizzie, insisting she never use one of those things on him again, then leaves the restaurant with her to get ice cream, leaving his battered team behind. hm.... quotable quotes: it's hard to hear, but i think Numbuh Two says, "dude, free things are cool!" when Lizzie gives Numbuh One the helmet. indeed they are. "uh...thanks...i always wanted...whatever this is." --Numbuh One, accepting the helmet. bizarro's blathering: the head-scratcher of the show: what does Numbuh One see in Lizzie? people have argued that the poor guy has self-esteem issues, and that he feels that an over-possessive freak is the best he can do in terms of a girlfriend, while others claim that he's vain and enjoys the way Lizzie dotes on him. my theory? Lizzie's rich. how else could she afford that expensive boyfriend helmet? and running a giant 2x4 technology treehouse ain't cheap. that's right--Nigel is putting out for the greater good. |
