OPERATION: CAKED (Capture and Kidnapify Enemy Dessert) mini-synopsis: it's the Delightful Children from Down the Lane's birthday, and the KND want their cake! summary: the show opens with a bunch of children sitting at a table, singing "Happy Birthday" unenthusiastically. it's the Delightful Children's birthday, and they're making the neighborhood children sing to them while they eat their cake. they are about to start eating when the mansion is suddenly attacked! skunk gas bombs are fired into the room, and the guests flee, terrified. the KND enter the mansion, wearing their attack gear (all but Numbuh Two, who never quite makes it into the house, though not for lack of effort). the KND come to take the DCFDTL's birthday cake, as they do every year, as the DCFDTL like to capture the local children and force them to watch them eat their cake every year. (whatever gives them their jollies, i suppose....) the KND are about to take the cake when the DCFDTL introduce Laura, a small, excited girl who never gets invited to parties. the reason being that whenever she gets angry, she transforms into a hulking monster, the Big Badolescent. the prospect of no party games triggers the transformation, and the KND are forced to play along with her. first, Numbuh One is put into a pinata and beaten, first by Numbuh Three, who cheerily joins the fun, then by the Big Badolescent, who uses Numbuh Three as the bat. then they play pin the tail on the donkey, with the KND as the donkey, of course. but Numbuh One distracts her with the birthday presents, and the KND escape the fate of having tails pinned on them. the KND activate a device, and a giant machine slices the Delightful Children's mansion in half(!!) leaving the KND and the birthday cake on one side, the DCFDTL and Laura on the other. then a herd of hamsters snap to attention and pull the KND half away. Laura becomes angry, transforms again, and tries to stop them from leaving, causing the cake to fly over and land on her. which oddly enough, pacifies her into reverting to Laura again. the KND make good their escape then, reasoning that depriving the DCFDTL of their cake is just as good as taking it for themselves. Numbuh Two, who had been trying to break into the mansion all this time, runs in pursuit. the Delightful Children are left with the destroyed cake and Laura, who tastes the cake, and finding it coconut flavored, becomes very angry.... quotable quotes: Numbuh One: "status report, Numbuh Five." bizarro's blathering: the first of several CAKED episodes, this is listed as the first episode (after the pilot) on Cartoon Network's official KND site. which begs the question: did the DCFTDL call Numbuh Four "Wallace" because they were purposely getting his name wrong, or had the writers of the show not quite settled on his name yet? |
