Horatio Hornblower & Master and Commander Fanfic Recs
If you have no idea who Horatio Hornblower is... (opens in popup window)

Horatio Hornblower fics will be marked with HH, Master & Commander with M&C.
Telemachos, or The Genealogy of Buggery by Resonant (HH, Horatio/Longley, NC-17)

A venerable Navy tradition is passed along. You know the Navy--nothing but rum, sodomy and the lash.
Ransom by Dr. Calypso (HH, Horatio/Archie, Archie/other, non-con, NC-17)

While the Indy is in dock for repairs, Captain Pellew and his two junior lieutenants are kidnapped by a British renegade. As the Indy's crew searches for its missing officers, Pellew and Hornblower work to escape -- and Archie Kennedy finds himself facing his greatest fears - and worse, the fulfilment of his dearest dreams.

I love this story. It's quite long, but very well written and true to the tone of the movies. And I should mention that I love Archie Kennedy in this story (and in the movies--Jamie Bamber did a brilliant job with his character, without any book material to work from.)
Make and Mend by David Kent (HH, G)

Beautiful and lyrical look at Horatio's life and ship's routine on the Indy after D&D.
Five Things That Never Happened to Aubrey and Maturin
One: Invasion by shalott (M&C, NC-17)
Three: All the Wonder by shalott (M&C, NC-17)
Five: The World Turned Upside Down by shalott (M&C, NC-17)

Every fandom has to have Five Things stories, and these ones are amazing. I'm not so keen on the second and fourth stories, which are short, but I love the other three, which are all nice and long.

The First Thing: What if Napoleon had invaded Britain?
The Third Thing: What if Aubrey and Maturin had met in space?
The Fifth Thing: What if Jack Aubrey turned into a woman?
