So who is Horatio Hornblower?

Horatio Hornblower is a character in a series of A&E made-for-TV-movies and the books the movies are based on. C.S. Forester wrote the 10 novels back in the 1930s and '40s. The films are quite accurate to the books, although the first four movies each focus on a single chapter in Mr. Midshipman Hornblower, the first novel. For reference, the movies are:

• The Duel, or The Even Chance
• The Fire Ships, or The Examination for Lieutenant
• The Duchess and the Devil
• The Wrong War, or Frogs and Lobsters
• The Mutiny
• Retribution
• Loyalty (which I have not seen yet)
• Duty (which I have not seen yet)
