Noodles and Rose Petals

The sounds of sizzling okonomiyaki, explosions of rose petal poison and smashing hammers filled the Tendo household. Used to such noises, the rest of the Tendo family slept peacefully. Even the panda in the spare bedroom snoozed contentedly, not knowing what his son was up to.
In the garden, Ranma and Ryouga sat on the rocks ringing the pool. Without any girls nearby to slip them up, there was little chance of falling in. A full moon drifted overhead as a cool breeze blew over them. Ranma smiled and lowered his head shyly.
"Um...nice night, huh?"
Ryouga smiled and glanced away. "Um, yeah. Pretty quiet."
A high pitched squeal and ominous laughter came from the dojo, dying down amidst another burst of rose petals and noodles that shot out of the window in a flurry. Ranma and Ryouga stared at each other, then looked away again.
"A counterfeit challenge letter was a good way to distract them," Ryouga said.
"Yeah, they won't ask who sent it until...um, until later," Ranma said.
Both of them knew that a challenge was no longer being answered in that bedroom, at least not a traditional challenge, but to anyone who knew the Saotome School of Anything Goes martial arts, a fake letter and unorthodox combat was to be expected.
"So," Ryouga said, tilting his head slightly. "I mean, we should take advantage of the time we have."
"Right," Ranma said. Nervously he tilted his own head and leaned close.
Another shrill scream came from Akane's bedroom, startling them back with wide eyes. Ryouga sighed and Ranma finally decided that this wasn't going to work. He stood up and offered his hand to Ryouga.
"Wanna go for a walk?" he asked.
Ryouga smiled and took his hand.
