Deep in Thought
“What’s wrong Yuma?”
“Sa……Samael……” Knowing her state of mind, Samael uses a spell to read the young woman’s mind and thoughts. He was amazed at what he saw. Before this life, Yuma was in the foreign worlds that Samael visited. She was at first, a doomed female soldier of the Marduk dynasty. The warriors all died trying to rid of Maniyu. Then Yuma was the nomad warrior and father Sekuro, celebrating his life with his wife and daughter. Then, she was an anonymous sculpture that sculpted a replica of the united talisman pieces on a mountain side. After that life, Yuma was a divine soldier that pledged allegiance to Samael himself, dying trying to free Jierra.
“Sorry sire for not freeing her…..” Yuma muttered to herself in a trance. “I bet you would be ashamed, as well as Gumari and Varensha……”
“Yuma, Yuma....” Samael whispered, trying to snap the young woman out of her trance. Her dogs, on the other hand, were slightly nipping at her heals, trying to wake her up. One bite on the toe from Seun woke Yuma from her trance.
“Seun, you little…….” Yuma’s eyes snapped open, looking around her room. “Eh? What just happened? What was going on again?”
“So, you must have known me, Jierra and Maniyu in the past lives, huh?” Samael asks, reminding Yuma of what she was thinking when she was in a trance.
“Y…….yes. But why did this all happen again? Why am I here on Earth and not anywhere else?”
“Sometimes Yuma, fate can be an unpredictable mistress. First off, you live as a proud warrior. Then before you know it, you die and are reborn as an average person trying to make a living out in a garden or ranch.”
“Ah, okay.” Yuma said, laughing. “Man, I feel so silly.”
As Yuma and Samael were discussing various events. Yuma’s father Jun calls her down. “Yuma, it’s time to have your breakfast. You don’t wanna go hungry before school.”
“Oh, Samael, I have to go.” Yuma sighed, holding one of her pugs.
“It’s okay. Remember Yuma, I will be here for you if you need me, okay.”
“Okay.” Yuma smiled and waved as she and the dogs headed downstairs to eat breakfast and getting ready for school.
Samael kept true to his words. He kept a watchful eye on Yuma, especially when she was sad, angry or felt despair. He notices how much the young woman loved her kindly father, her pug dogs and of course, art. In his small dragon form, he would always look at her paintings and drawings, admiring how much work she would put in them. But the actual reason why Samael loved Yuma’s paintings so much is that it reflected on him and Jierra quite a bit. The woman sure did have a keen memory of her present life and lives before.
“Oh, hi Samael.” Yuma cheers out as she was taking a break from drawing and working in the orchards and gardens with her father and dogs. Samael stayed calm and casual, since it was not everyday that people saw supernatural beings.
“Who is that Yuma?” Jun asked his daughter.
“Oh, I am just Samael, a friend of Yuma. Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you sir.”
“I wasn’t worried.” Jun laughed, knowing that it is rare to see a Tianshi or Akuma come into a person’s life, and especially rare for Akuma not to me wild and unpredictable beasts. “Why have you came to this world sir?”
“Well……..” Samael sighs. “I have came here to escape a cruel master.”
“What has he done?” Jun asked.
“Samael told me that his cruel master is a god of war and sin. He already captured a friend of his and caused a downfall of many dynasties on different planets and ours.”
“Yes, like your daughter said. That is also the reason why the Akuma are so ill-tempered and hateful, all because of him.”
“Him? Who is he exactly?” Jun asked, scratching his head.
“He is Maniyu, King of Terror. A behemoth feared and revered by all.” Samael sighs. “Sorry if I scared you with that talk.”
“No, that is okay. I am just thankful for someone informing us of something important like that. And, by the way, I am also thankful for someone to help my daughter out in these trying times.”
“You are welcome kind sir.” Samael told her father, smiling. “For me, I must be off for now.”
“Good luck.” Both Jun and Yuma said, waving farewell.
“I hope to the gods for his safety more than anything.” Yuma thought to herself, feeling concern for the Akuma. And she had every right to be concered too, since Maniyu started to finally awaken.
