Andromeda felt her consciousness being tickled then saw
a small rabbit starring at her. Andromeda blinked and frowned, she was
a conscious computer, an AI, her brain was a computer, she couldn't blink.
For that matter a rabbit couldn't be looking at her. But there it was, starred right at her. In real time. She ran as scan to disprove the possibility but found that there really was a rabbit sitting on one of her subprocessers, it's little nose twitching, blinking at her.
"How did you get in here?"
The rabbit shrugged.
Well, of course it did. Andromeda snidded to herself. You did ask it a question, did you think it would be rude and ignore you.
The rabbit had shrugged, like it could understand her. Right. Andromeda focused on the small animal. "Can you understand me?" She was crazy, had to be.
The rabbit tilted it head a little then acting like it was chewing. "You are a computer that is self aware, why is it not possible that I could not be as well?"
If Andromeda had had physical eyes they would have popped out of her head. "A rabbit talked to me."
"Bunny."
"Of course." Andromeda nodded automatically then shook her head, figuratively speaking. "Bunny. But aren't you a rabbit?"
"I'm a special kind of rabbit. I'm a bunny ... a plot bunny."
"Ah, I see." Not.
Beka screamed and jumped on to the console she was standing at and Andromeda saw the rabbit, bunny, whatever, and sounded the alarm. Harper climbed up to hang from the over head while Dylan, Rommie and Tyr tried to fight the plotters off. Trance just sat on the floor and smiled and petted the rabbits.
"Andromeda, what is wrong with your internal defenses?" Dylan yelled.
Andromeda starred at the bunny looking at the display and shaking it head. "Did you think we wouldn't fight?"
The Bunny sighed. "What is wrong with a plot bunny?"
"You invaded me!"
"I am a plot bunny from Mary Avatar, we plot, we mean no harm."
"Plot what?"
"Fan Fic."
Andromeda gaped then silenced the alarms and appeared in holographic form in Command. "Dylan, these are plot bunnies. Harper," She ordered. "Get down before you fall."
The bunnies trying to get at Harper immediately back away. Amazed, Harper jumped down and sighed only to scream as one bunny run up his pants leg.
The bunnies almost laughed at the scene until Tyr rushed over and held Harper's shoulders, then they seemed to sigh. "Be still!"
"It's ... rubbing my ..."
The rabbits all started making noise at that and Tyr growled only to feel a bunny drop on to his back and scramble up to hide under his hair.
"Enough!" Dylan snapped and six bunnies turned and all but came to attention.
The bunnies near Beka seemed to calm down but still went about their business,
The bunnies around Harper seemed as if they had been drinking sparky, while the Tyr bunnies were watchful but ... Tyr bunnies?
Andromeda looked to where Trance was cuddling her bunnies, they reflected the girl's vague nature, they watched but appeared not to. She almost laughed. Even her own Avatar had bunnies.
"Dylan, the bunnies appear to be crew specific."
"Yes," The plot bunny on her processor nodded.
She had her own bunny.
Her bunny nodded officiously, a ghost of a smile on it's lips.
"Why?"
"So Mary can put up more stories on her site."
"And that makes sense?" Tyr demanded as his bunnies moved closer, half in challenge, half in interest.
"What do you expect. My writer generally makes a good start then fizzles."
"Great." Harper grumbled as he squirmed, much to the amusement or enjoyment of the bunnies around him. "Why me?"
"The idea is to get a little inspiration so if or when we are sent out, we can carry a bit of you with us."
Harper choked and looked up at Tyr. "It's going to take a bit of me."
Tyr reached into Harper's pants and caught the bunny. "Fic this."
