The Founding of The Isle of The Lily

This is the history of the Isle as documented by Translators of the House of Lore.

It is currently the year 905.

Ena, the world in which our RP takes place, is a world of two people – those possessing annuuth or magic, and those who do not. Those wielding magic, have long been feared by those who do not, and as a result have suffered long years of subjugation through sheer numbers. This magic is grossly misunderstood; it is a belief that being unknowable, it can only be used for wicked purposes.

In the year 899, A young woman, named Analaiya, strong in the annuuth, but gentle in nature and vehemently opposed to violence, was cast out by her superstitious village with little food and no belongings, save a horse. Alone, but determined, she decided to leave her lands, travelling west in search of others like herself. On her journey, using her magic, which was to become known as one of the Skills - Seeking, was able to locate and gather a group of men and women, who like herself, possessed the annuuth and found themselves slowly and methodically run out of their villages and cities.

Sheltered in the keepings of a forest, each, Analaiya discovered, wielded their magic in different ways, having a very distinct affiliation. There were men and women alike who found they were able to heal, conjure fire, speak the tongues of foreigners, or beasts, influence the weather or nature or others, disarm another’s magic, lift objects with their mind or read the emotions of others. Each Skill, as Analaiya named them, meant that each person had a unique ministry to serve for others. The known Skills are Healing, Seeking, Guiding, Striking, Musing, Translating, Obstructing, Mediating, Ground-shifting, Taming, Tree-Speaking, Glamour, Stasis, Storm-riding, Wave-riding, Tide-running, Dreaming, Seeing, Phasing.

Surveying her disordered rabble, Analaiya called seven men and women forth. These individuals, she noticed, had differing and varied Skills, and were stronger than the others, but similar in strength themselves. To each she assigned an Affiliation according to their Skills – Water, Earth, Air, Spirit, The Unseen, Knowledge and Justice. This was the founding of the Guilds. In time, they became known as the Water Guild, Earth Guild, Sky Guild, Spirit Guild, Moon Guild, House of Lore and Hall of Equity. Soon, the remaining men and women were sorted into these seven societies, and the first seven named Leaders of the groups. Eventually, within each Guild, the members found that they were able to further differentiate themselves according to their particular Skills.

Word of the gathering spread. Soon others sought them out and joined their ranks. Analaiya realised that such a group could not stay hidden for long, nor live respectably in a forest. The group decided to seek a suitable place to reside in the north.

Three weeks into their journey, the travellers happened upon a great and isolated mere. In the centre of the lake stood a large island. It was here that the group began to build their home. Using beautiful and ancient architecture brought by those who had come from the west, they erected a magnificent, ornate white temple with large halls and courts. Analaiya, recognising that her group was the making of an order, christened the followers Initiates. Of the Guild Leaders, she created a First Council, so that they would be a source of support, wisdom and authority for their Guild Brothers and Sisters. She became the
Arianne, or First Among Many – for she kept the group together and encouraged the growth of magic and community in the Initiates.

Around their home Tree-Sisters and Brothers called forth a mass of delicate white lilies. Around the mere Storm-riders conjured an impenetrable mist, such that only Initiates would be able to part it and so locate their Temple. And so was born the Isle of the Lily.
